Data Science has never been easier!

A large set of tools is now available to process incredible amounts of data at high speeds and to apply complex algorithms to transform the data. Machine learning, natural language processing or visualization tools are available to anyone with a modicum of technical background. That means technical challenges that not long ago could only have been solved by a high-powered team at a resource-rich company can be tackled by a team at a lean, hot startup like yours.

And yet making data work for you is hard and will remain hard. Data is noisy and the volume at which it is generated can be unmanageable, even when distributing the data. Knowing which data to collect is not always trivial. Algorithm design has to conform to the reality of the system that can be built. And yet useful outcomes are dependent on good data collection and smart algorithm design.

How then do you make use of your data science super powers while avoiding the data science villains and dangers?

This talk will highlight some of the tools available to data scientists today and demo some sample use cases. I will also highlight some practical data science pitfalls. This is meant to be an interactive session, so bring your data science questions and/or insights!
