About This Class

Consumer empathy. It’s the key to successful product strategy, design, and marketing. Through it, we find unanswered questions, unmet needs, and idea­ catalyzing behaviors. But building a business, product, or service around a point­-in-­time understanding of your consumer is a strategy destined to fail. To successfully create an offering that dramatically shifts behavior, organically generates habitual engagement, and promotes a profitable viral cycle, we must first understand the consumer journey.

This introductory workshop will teach you a multidisciplinary approach to consumer journey mapping research, design, and implementation. Having successfully designed and implemented consumer journey maps for clients like Anthem Blue Cross, Sprint, Target, and Taco Bell, this team of subject matter experts will use real project expertise to equip you with the approach, tools, and knowledge to successfully employ consumer journey mapping in product design, service design, marketing, and business design.

● Where and how to find the necessary data and research inputs to customer journey maps ● Proven consumer journey map design methodologies used for major brands and products ● How to implement consumer journey maps as shown by real business case studies

Preparation

Please note this is an introductory workshop, no previous experience or preparation needed. Please bring your laptop to class.

Creation Station Business at Broward County Library

Creation Station Business (CSB) at Broward County Main Library in downtown Fort Lauderdale, is a free co-working hub designed to nurture local businesses and budding entrepreneurs. CSB resources include a conference room, two small meeting rooms, free WiFi and wireless printing, videoconferencing equipment, smartboards, a large format printer, and computers loaded with CAD and Adobe Creative Cloud. Since 2016, CSB has presented 413 free events spanning topics such as business formation, mentorship, project management, social media marketing, branding, grant writing, taxes, and other business related topics.

Black Valley Digital

Black Valley Digital is a minority-owned education and marketing agency that helps companies access resources and opportunities to grow their profitable tribe of customers online. They are on a mission to help 10,000 diverse minority entrepreneurs, artists, and business owners thrive and generate wealth within the innovation economy.

Venture Café Miami

Founded in 2016, Venture Café Miami is a nonprofit organization that seeks to grow Miami’s innovation community by working to make it more diverse, inclusive, accessible, and better connected locally, nationally, and globally. Venture Café Miami is a member of a growing global network of organizations – each with a shared mission and local flare.
