You may have heard that HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are used to create the look, feel, and functionality of a web page. However, modern web sites, like Facebook and Google, use “web applications” to generate content specific to each visitor. In this workshop, we will learn about the relationships between those technologies and how we can use them together to make our web site come alive. By the end of the workshop, we will have built a fully functioning Magic 8-Ball web application from scratch using the Ruby language that will generate recommendations on-the-fly for each visitor.
If you've never used Ruby before, completing some of the Ruby tutorials on CodeAcademy.com (free) should suffice.
