About this event

Net Neutrality (noun)- the idea, principle, or requirement that Internet service providers should or must treat all Internet data as the same regardless of its kind, source, or destination. (Merriam-Webster)

Net neutrality creates a level playing field for businesses by ensuring that all traffic over the internet is treated equally. Under existing net neutrality rules, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are prohibited from manipulating web traffic to support their own financial or political interests. For example, right now they are restricted from speeding up traffic to one site, or slowing it to another, in order to favor some advertisers. Net neutrality also protects privacy by preventing ISPs from selling consumers' browsing histories without permission.

In April, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) unveiled a plan to end net neutrality protections. Carbonite—along with more than 70,000 other companies, organizations, and individuals—opposes the plan and is taking action to defend net neutrality.

Join Norman Guadagno, Chief Evangelist and SVP of Marketing at Carbonite, to learn the importance of net neutrality and why it must be preserved.

Why It Matters?
Net neutrality is about equality and opportunity for businesses of all sizes. It fuels job creation and innovation by ensuring equal access to information and resources. If net neutrality is reversed, the world’s five largest broadband service providers will gain control over who can access information, and how fast they can access it.

What You WIll Takeaway?
Attendees can expect to learn:

  • The general principles of net neutrality
  • Why a reversal of net neutrality will hurt the economy and your business
