The future of work is now. And it’s all about maximizing human-AI connections. If you need to speed your skills to unlock the power of generative AI to automate workflows, craft impactful communications, harness the true power of your data, and more — this is the workshop for you.
Over two interactive and engaging days, our Generative AI Workshop explores the ins and outs of generative AI. You’ll start by covering the benefits and limitations of generative AI, how it interprets and generates text, and best practices for writing effective prompts.
From there, you’ll examine real-world scenarios and get hands-on practice using generative AI tools to supercharge your business communications, make more informed data-driven decisions, and automate repetitive tasks.
And throughout it all, you’ll learn the moral and ethical frameworks to guide your use of generative AI — and why they matter.
In just two days, you’ll gain foundational AI knowledge as well as concrete, real-world experience leveraging AI to your advantage. You’ll leave confident in your ability to harness AI’s power — no matter where the future takes you.

By the end of this workshop, you'll be able to:
I'm Austin Lasseter, and I'm a software engineer and tech instructor located in Northern Virginia. I'm fascinated by the intersection of Software Development and Machine Learning! I've taught the full range of data courses with General Assembly, including Data Analytics (three times), Python programming (five times), and Data Science (over a dozen times) between 2018 and 2022. A life-long learner, I love to share with my fellow students the latest advancements in automation of AI/ML in the AWS cloud.
In addition to my classes with General Assembly, I work full-time as a software developer at a startup focused on AIOps. My specialty is building and deploying machine learning models. I love learning new ways to create digital products with Amazon Web Services, and to share with others what I've learned and built.
I hold a PhD in Policy from the University of Maryland with a concentration in Survey Statistics, and over a dozen relevant certifications including the Amazon Machine Learning certification, the Machine Learning Engineer nanodegree from Udacity, and a certificate in Data Science from General Assembly. When I'm not throwing it down with Python, you'll find me running marathons, kayaking on the Shenandoah river, or rock-climbing in Great Falls!
