Weixiang Wang

Deputy Director, EDB New Ventures, Economic Development Board

Weixiang is a Deputy Director with EDB New Ventures in the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). In this role, he works with Singapore-based strategic corporate partners to create, grow and co-invest in new innovative ventures.

He was previously a key member of EDB’s Global Operations management team and was based in Mumbai and Boston from 2010 to 2017 where he was responsible for EDB’s investment promotion strategies and operations in key markets, including India, Middle East, Israel, the US New England region and Canada. He worked closely with multi-national corporations and startups on their Asia Pacific growth strategies and investments in Singapore.

Before his overseas assignments, he was a founding member of the multi-agency Clean Energy Programme Office, that is responsible for planning, synergizing and executing strategies and efforts to develop and grow the Cleantech industry in Singapore. As part of this role, he was responsible for initiating, structuring and administering the first programme in Singapore that incentivized the adoption of clean energy.

Weixiang graduated from University of California-Berkeley in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science (Chemical Engineering) degree and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree. He is also a Sloan Fellow with a Master of Business Administration from Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management.
