Vanessa Miranda is an advocate for community-centered movements that engage change around diversity and inclusion, understanding data ownership and privacy, and practicing mindfulness in cybersecurity. Specializing in IT and cybersecurity consulting, digital marketing, and tech-oriented events for diverse communities, Vanessa has built #WomeninSTEM communities that have exceeded strong presences across San Diego County and Southern California.

Vanessa possesses a strong influence through her previous Marketing and Managing Director role with Girls in Tech, a global non-profit focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of girls and women who are passionate about technology, as well as her previous Vice President role with Latina Geeks, a nonprofit organization with chapters across the western United States specializing in creating an organizational culture to support women in technology, while also fostering global citizens and powerful agents of change here in the United States.

Having launched two non-profit organizations in San Diego for Girls in Tech and Latina Geeks, Vanessa has executed over 50 in-person and virtual events with strategic partnerships with Amazon, Microsoft, ESET, Tealium, PetDesk, Cox Communications, Measurabl, UC San Diego Extension, Nutanix, NBC 7 Studios, and more. Her San Diego chapter specifically was recognized by the California State Senate and the City of San Diego for leading technical workshops and being the only organization in San Diego serving Latinas in Tech.

Pursued by her passions, Vanessa launched a digital book club, Let’s Get Lit, to encourage members to read books that challenge and inspire them to think and act boldly. She has hosted two New York Times Best-Selling authors, Mikki Kendall and Maria Hinojosa, during her virtual book readings. As an advocate for BIPOC-owned businesses, Vanessa partners with bookstores across the nation to encourage investing in your local communities.

As for her career expertise, Vanessa has a strong background in project management, non-profit leadership, and partnership development, and is responsible for driving digital transformation and community strategies for Cyber Collective. Vanessa inspires and equips her community and organizations to think inclusively, lead with purpose, embrace courage, and shape the future of cybersecurity + data ethics. Vanessa takes new policies and ethics seriously as we live in the digital age where cyber, data, and privacy are evolving rapidly.
