Val has been leading UX/UI design projects for the past 3+ years at a research and design consultancy specializing in medical devices. She works on interfaces ranging from patient mobile apps to embedded screens on operating room devices.

Val grew up wanting to be an artist. In art school, she moved from painting to installation art because she loved the challenge of creating an experience and anticipating how someone would move through and respond to a space. As her interest in human interactions increased, she became fascinated by mobile apps as works of art. A web dev bootcamp led to an HCI certificate, and Val discovered herself in UX/UI design within the Life Sciences (much to her parents' relief). Now, she loves the challenge of capturing a user’s story, and designing for their voice.
