Seattle
Urmila Nadkarni is an engineering manager at Socrata, a Seattle software company that helps governments make their data publicly available online. Urmila has worked in the trenches at 3 software companies on 2 continents over the past decade. Hailing from sunny Sydney, Australia, Urmila’s first taste of programming was in 2nd grade, teaching a Lego turtle to draw a hexagon on a piece of paper, and she's been hooked ever since. Outside of work, Urmila volunteers at Ada Developers Academy, a tuition-free software development training program for women. She also enjoys cooking, punning and backpacking in the wilderness (sometimes all at the same time).
