Tashi Dorjee is Chief Executive Office and Co-founder of TwoSpace, a startup founded here in Sydney which turns restaurants that are closed during the day into a network of co-working spaces. Today, TwoSpace has grown networks not only in Sydney but also in Melbourne, Perth, Canberra and across Australia; members work from gorgeous restaurants, rooftop bars, funky hotel lounges, and beachside venues with ocean views. TwoSpace is gearing up to launch a global network, with the first international co-working community growing in Hong Kong.
Before TwoSpace, Tashi’s startup journey began with a love for the environment. Tashi is a Director of Carbon Conservation (CC): the first company to use carbon finance to conserve tropical rainforests. CC was winner of Environmental Finance Magazine's Carbon Finance Deal of the Year with Bank of America Merrill Lynch for the Ulu Masen project in Aceh aiming to conserve 700,000 hectares of forest in Indonesia. Such is also the subject of the documentary film "The Burning Season" narrated by Hugh Jackman which focused on the stories of forest orangutan conservation and challenges of development.
His fascination of sustainability and drive to make an impact, has had him lead and work on startups ranging from tech product development and tourism projects with Google Glass (the first outside the USA), to socially conscious condoms. Tashi is also an Australian Ambassador for the United Nations Women Singapore Committee and the Project Inspire program, which helps young change-makers create a better world for women and girls in Asia Pacific.
Tashi holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering from the University of Sydney, Australia.
