Global Head and VP, Marketing Planning, Operations and Office of the CMO, HP

Houston

Tara J Agen has been at HP 26 years and is the Global Head and Vice President of HP Marketing Planning, Operations, and Office of the CMO. In her role, she leads HP Agency Strategy, Management and Governance, Marketing Lab– HP’s marketing leading & development platform, Marketing Planning, People change management for HP’s Marketing Transformation, Employee and CMO engagement and communications, and Staff Operations for the CMO.

Prior to this position, she was Vice President and General Manager of the Personal Systems Displays and Accessories (D&A) global business unit. In the role, she was accountable for leading the Displays and Accessories business unit’s $36B market opportunity for HP. This included creating a portfolio of products that both complete HP’s PC experiences as well as standalone and attach to non-HP PCs. As General Manager, Tara managed an end-to-end business with the alignment and engagement of Procurement, Supply Chain Planning, Marketing, Finance, HR, and Region Marketing and Sales to create an optimized operation that marketed and sold D&A products in HP's 160 countries. Tara reinvented select D&A’s operations; business strategy, current business management, engineering and new product introductions in order to grow the business double digits two years in a row, including 16% topline and 34% bottom line growth in 2018.

Prior to running an HP Business, Agen was Personal Systems Chief of Staff and Executive Director running planning and operations for the $32 Billion business. Tara managed the day-to-day staff and employee engagement operations for the President and his Staff. In the experience, she was able to help turnaround the Consumer PC business as well as redesign the way product concepts where defined and delivered to HP’s roadmap.

In her HP and Hewlett-Packard career history, she has held a variety of marketing, business development, sales operations, strategy, planning, business operations leadership roles across Print, PCs, Storage, and Servers. Her two most memorable breakthroughs include being on record as part of the start-up team that built the fastest growing $1billion business in HP/Hewlett-Packard history, HP Pavilion PCs, and when she built a unique bridge between HP and her community’s need to print more sustainably in Suffern, NY.

Tara holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Regis College, Westin, MA, and an Executive Finance Degree from Columbia University, NYC. She lives in Montgomery, TX with her husband, an organic farmer, and enjoys gardening, hiking, watercolor painting, collecting art, living on Lake Conroe and giving back to the community she lives in. Agen is serving as a Board of Trustee for Walden HOA, Montgomery, TX, a 5300-household community, and still sits on the board of CommNexus, the 501c3 Board for Evonexus, a San Diego and Orange County California supporter of tech startups.
