    Founder and CEO, MentalHappy

    San Francisco

Tamar Lucien is the Founder and CEO of MentalHappy, a Y Combinator-backed company that helps people learn life skills for emotional well-being. The San Francisco-based company was born out of Tamar's struggle to overcome anxiety. After grappling with one of life's lows, she vowed never to let her circumstances determine her disposition. The experience taught her that when we dwell on the mishaps of everyday life, we invite negativity into our reality.

In a moment of clarity, Tamar realized that her struggle was not in vain--it became a catalyst for inspiration and change. Tamar has spoken at events like the Grace Hopper Conference 2019, where she shared her experience on transitioning from employee to employer. She is also a contributing writer to TechCrunch, writing on topics including how to address grief in the workplace. Major publications such as Reader's Digest, TechCrunch, Silicon Valley Business Journal, Creative Mornings and the CIPA award-winning book "Impact Founder: Inspirational Stories of Entrepreneurs Who Risk Everything for What They Believe In" has featured Tamar's story and work. Tamar earned her MBA after graduating from Florida State University with a dual degree in Sociology and Economics.
