Sophie Hughes Stokes is the founder and creative director of Sophie Hughes and of Ore Jewelry. Sophie's jewelry studio, where all of her designs are created from recycled gold and silver, is lofted above her eclectic boutique. Ore Jewelry features work by local female designers. Sophie has been awarded Best of Boston for jewelry design three years running, and Sophie's designs have been seen in InStyle, Glamour, Elle, and Harper's Bazaar.
Sophie grew up on the Maine coast, and had her first taste of jewelry making in an apprentice program during high school. She graduated from Massachusetts College of Art + Design in 2008 with a BFA in Metalsmithing, founded her jewelry line in 2010, and opened up shop in Boston's South End in 2013.
