Sophie Damelio

I was driven to enter web development because of my natural curiosity, and I love that it involves constant adaptation and research. I have had a very life-changing experience throughout my GA immersive course as a student. I was surprised at my ability as I worked through the course, and so much of my experience was guided and supported by the staff here at GA. The collective effect that the instructional team had for me was paramount, and inspired me to want to join in on guiding folks who are new to programming.

Having had a TA that really represented me and showed me that there was space for me to take up (and space for me to thrive) in this field has served as major inspiration. Specifically I am excited about being a TA because of the peer to peer interaction. Additionally the aspect of working through problems together is really as valuable for me as a developer as it is for the student, and I look forward to continued growth in this role.

Beyond the tech world I am learning how to surf (in the sunny but cold ocean here in LA), love to play and write music, and although I don’t have any pets right now I am the biggest fan of all kinds of furry friends.
