Sarah Bayot is the founder and owner of Kicheko Goods. A socially conscious jewelry brand based in Washington, DC, Kicheko sends one child to school for every piece of jewelry purchased. With over five years traveling and working with a local community in the DR Congo, Kicheko’s first education partner is with Mango Tree, a primary school committed to values-based education and gender equity. A mix of career roles leading to where she is now, Sarah has professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, event planning and production, nonprofit operations, hospitality, office management and now social entrepreneurship. A believer in the multi-hyphenate career, she has dedicated the last three years to jewelry designing. Concepts for the brand’s small batch collections are inspired by geometry, nature, creative conversations and travel. Kicheko's mixed media aesthetic shares an unrefined boldness, sophisticated earthiness and playful simplicity. While designs are made and finished by hand, designated elements and pieces are made by small and family-owned manufacturers and artisans worldwide. In 2015 and 2016, Kicheko partnered with TOMS designing exclusive product for their holiday and spring marketplace collections. Kicheko's work has been featured in Darling Magazine, Washingtonian, Washington Post, DC Modern Luxury, Brightest Young Things, and Northern Virginia Magazine. Her designs are carried by local and national retailers with her own brick and mortar/studio based on the Arts Walk in Brookland. She is passionate about collaborations, transformative experiences, reforming ideas of beauty and acceptance, movement, wellness, and food (eating it). A native of New Jersey with global volunteer experience in Costa Rica, DR Congo, Morocco, Scotland and Uganda, Sarah and her husband consider themselves lucky to call DC home for the last 14 years. Sarah holds a MA and BA from The George Washington University.
