Sam is currently a PhD student at Columbia University in the City of New York where he investigates novel synthetic graphene nanoribbons for solar cell applications. His passion for education and science overlap in his Resolution Venture, USolar, which aims to augment the science curricula in targeted schools through hands-on alternative energy workshops. Impact evaluation at the ground level has been critical to success-- collecting feedback from students and teachers in easily quantized metrics has helped identify simple areas in need of improvement to better serve the community .
