Russell Kennedy will talk about the motivations, processes and collaborations involved to develop both of the Australian and International Indigenous Design Charters. The Charters aim is to help designers facilitate accurate and respectful representation of indigenous knowledge in multidisciplinary practices and associated media applications. The Charters other role is to promote an understanding of the issue to the buyers of design including governments, corporations, businesses and not-for-profit organisations. The Charters have been produced by Deakin University in collaboration with its Institute of Koorie Education (IKE), Indigenous Architecture and Design Victoria (IADV), Design Institute of Australia (DIA) and the International Council of Design (ico-D).
