As a first generation Indian-American, Rooshy grew up learning to make and use skincare at home. Just as her grandmother passed down to her mother, Rooshy's mom showed her how to use certain magical ingredients—like turmeric and sweet almond oil—to resolve common skin issues, like acne and an uneven skin tone. As an adult searching for an easier way to access these non-toxic formulas, Rooshy grew to embrace her roots and imagined a world where natural beauty unleashes fierce confidence. "I was inspired to create aavrani (in Hindi, 'rani' means 'queen') with a mission to encourage us all to feel proud and confident in our skin. Each product was formulated thoughtfully, harnessing the most powerful beauty rituals that have been used for centuries in South Asia."
