Praveen Velu is co-founder of deep technology startup Evie.ai and has been with the company since October 2015. Since then, the company has gone on to develop the first commercially available AI scheduling assistant, Evie. Headquartered in Singapore, Praveen oversees the company’s overall vision, strategy, culture and growth initiatives. With over 9 years working in various regional roles for global media and technology companies, Praveen brings a breadth of experience spanning from business development, partnerships, content development and digital marketing. Motivated by the growing struggle with administrative tasks they were experiencing, Praveen and co-founder Jin Hian Lee, were driven to find a solution that would improve this increasingly painful workplace condition. Through Evie, they have introduced an accessible AI solution that not only helps the workforce take care of the busywork, it also provides professionals with more time to focus on the things that matter. Before starting joining Evie.ai, Praveen was Head of Network Development in Asia for Maker Studios, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. Praveen was a member of the founding team in Asia where he led global and regional campaigns for socially driven clients and launched the first Maker Bootcamp in partnership with the government of Singapore for aspiring online content creators in Asia. Prior to that, Praveen was the Business Development Lead for Yahoo! in Southeast Asia, where he met his co-founder Jin. During his time there, Praveen worked across different agendas including media development, content acquisition and partnerships management where he was responsible for multi-million dollar budgets and negotiated strategic partnerships across the region. Praveen graduated with a Master’s in Legal and Political Theory from University College London, and holds a Bachelor of Arts (with First Class Honors) in Political Science from the University of Melbourne.
