Parastoo is Omixy's Chief Scientific Officer, having earned her BS in Biology at Tehran University before continuing her education in genetics, receiving her MS at Kassel University and her PhD at the Universität Gesamthochschule Essen. She then worked in the Institute on Aging at the National Institutes of Health before embarking on an academic career where she led a laboratory on neurogenetics focused on neurodegenerative dementias.
After more than eight years of genetic research and teaching Human Genetics and bioinformatics, she felt the need to put into practice what she had been preaching, namely personalised medicine and integrating a knowledge of genetics and genomics into medicine in order to improve lives.
