Denver
Growing up in East Tennessee, Nate fell in love with the outdoors backpacking, climbing, and running his way through the beautiful southern Appalachians. After graduating from the University of Tennessee and completing a graduate certificate in Geographic Information Systems at Penn State University, Nate moved to Denver to startup the National Park Service’s digital mapping program, NPMap. He led this program for more than ten years, during which he traveled to National Parks — both large and small — to work on-the-ground with park staff on their web and mobile mapping experiences. He stayed on with the National Park Service through the 2016 Centennial, then took a job with Trailhead Labs, a company whose emphasis on helping recreation-focused organizations get more people outside falls right in line with his own passions. As the lead engineer at Trailhead Labs, Nate directs the company’s web and mobile development efforts. He’s particularly interested in creating beautiful digital experiences that are executed in simple and thoughtful ways.
