Milly learned to code when she realised that the sequence data from her laboratory research was too big to open in Excel. A couple of years later she’s playing with customer data from Deliveroo, Boohoo and Justeat, and teaching computers to recognise fraud at machine learning startup Ravelin.
She sees herself as part data scientist and part software engineer, tending to both identify and build product improvements. Her joy of digging through software architecture to figure out why model predictions aren’t as expected has led to nicknames including "modern day sherlock" and "the bug squasher".
She’s been through the full-time Data Science Immersive course and now teaches on the part-time course, so is no new face to GA.
