Michael Barsties pursued a BA Business Psychology and a MSc in Corporate Communications in London. During his studies back in Germany he was part of 'Food Sharing e. V., a nation-wide network of people who hate waste and share food. Surprised something similar didn't exist in London at the time, he was extremely happy to discover the inauguration of OLIO in early 2015. Very keen to get involved he volunteered with OLIO from the very beginning and became a full time employee soon after. He created OLIO's successful 'Food Waste Heroes programme' where volunteers collect surplus food from local businesses and share it with fellow OLIOers in their local communities.
