Los Angeles
Megan began her journey working in food service throughout high school. Knowing she wanted food to be a major aspect of her career, she went on to attend the California Culinary Academy and worked in several restaurants. But it wasn’t until she landed a seasonal job on an apple orchard near her Minnesota hometown that Megan was inspired to pursue farming. She returned to Northern California to work at the Farmers Markets, where she teamed up with County Line Harvest.
Megan joined the County Line team in 2009 harvesting and packing chicory boxes. Within 18 months, she was recruited to become the manager of County Line’s then-new winter farm in the Coachella Valley. With the help of Martín, a neighboring foreman and friend, plus the crew’s collective knowledge, and plenty of trial and error, they have now farmed 10 successful winter seasons.
Megan’s passions for service, feeding people, community, and problem-solving fuel her love for farming.
