Maura LaMendola

Director of Partnerships and Special Projects, Everytown

New York City

Maura LaMendola (she/her/hers) is an external affairs professional based in New York City, NY with 9 years of experience working on national advocacy and political campaigns for a myriad of social justice issues including reproductive health, rights, and justice; healthcare equity; voting rights and civic education. She currently works at Everytown for Gun Safety as the Deputy Director of Partnerships and Special Projects, leading the organization’s strategy and relationship building efforts with other national non-profit organizations dedicated to reducing gun violence and it’s root causes.

She began her career in politics on the 2012 Obama campaign as a grassroots field organizer in Dayton, Ohio—the battleground of all battleground states—building robust neighborhood volunteer teams that led to a victory in the state. This life changing experience brought her closer to understanding how democracy works in its most raw form: on the ground talking to voters about what issues directly impact their lives. She will always be a field organizer at heart!

Whether it’s planning a last minute rally on the Capitol lawn or designing a roadmap of calls to action for partners, her roots as a grassroots organizer and passion for human rights drive her each day in fighting for a more just and equitable world.

Maura graduated with a BA in International Studies & French from the University of Dayton. Her roots growing up in a small, rural town near Pittsburgh, make her a Steelers fan for life and someone who appreciates a good "Yinzer" accent.
