    Martin Egan

    Product Director, Solar Analytics

    Sydney

Martin Egan is Product Director at Solar Analytics, a solar technology startup that has grown to become Australia's largest independent solar energy management companies.

Martin is leading his team toward what he sees as the inevitable advancement of the world into a sustainable and renewable energy future.

SolarAnalytics is a consumer facing digital platform that shows how well your solar is working and how you are utilizing the energy you have generated. By being positioned between the home and the grid, Martin and his team have been able to work with the homeowner and the energy providers to explore all of the opportunities in the use of renewables. Whether it's identifying grid disturbances and voltage issues, encouraging homeowners to change behaviour, or exploring the future of Virtual Power plants, the product team at Solar Analytics is using their data drawn from nearly 20,000 homes and sites to investigate the future of renewable energy.

Martin's particular focus has been on the way people will work with and learn about their sustainable energy. He believes that the more people understand, the more they will become involved in using, storing and sharing their clean energy. He has drawn on his past working in large scale digital media (The ABC, NewsCorp and international advertising) to bring a customer centric approach to the use of all the technology and data that is available.

His Shared Solar presentation will walk through a recent project that explored the possibilities of communal energy. Explaining what was discovered about the financial gains, the energy usage, and most importantly the advocacy and engagement that occurred when a community was shown the way energy was generated and consumed by their friends and neighbours.
