    Maris Garcia recently accepted a position at the University of Chicago as Design Lead, bringing human-centered design to issues of diversity and inclusion in higher education. She is an experienced researcher and strategist with a demonstrated history of working in the design industry, most recently at Greater Good Studio and gravitytank. Over the last 13 years, she has worked with extraordinary organizations and foundations to better understand the people they serve and create new programs, strategies, products and tools in response.

    Maris previously taught Research Methods at the School of the Art Institute Chicago (SAIC) and received a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, where she studied architecture and psychology. She started her career serving as a building inspector and leads teams of volunteers around the world to build homes for those in need with Habitat for Humanity's Global Village program.
