LJ Kenward

Software Developer, XERO

Melbourne

LJ's journey into tech is unique. After driving 100-tonne mining trucks on rail expansion and mining construction projects in the Pilbara, LJ decided she needed a change in career.

She enrolled in General Assembly's Web Development Immersive course, and studied 600+ hours of in-class programming over 3 months. It wasn't long before she was snapped up, scoring a gig with Xero.

Most recently, LJ won a placement on the Startup Catalyst program, visiting Silicon Valley where she spoke with people from Facebook, Google and other tech startups, learning and absorbing knowledge, and seeing just how far tech can take her.

LJ's story is a great example of how career transitions into development can be made, irrespective of background.
