    Lawrence Humphrey is an engineer turned designer turned strategist. He achieved his Bachelor of Science in computer science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and worked as a freelance web developer until he married his love for design and tech on the IBM Design for AI team. Here he co-created AI Design best practices and a toolbox to help make AI accessible and ran workshops with dozens of clients to help bring AI to their users. He’s now doing design consultation and strategy in IBM’s Transformation organization, the engine responsible for accelerating the future growth at IBM.

    He’s also a staunch advocate for equity, having worked with the City of Austin to help prioritize equitable policy, and co-created a diverse hiring pipeline into IBM’s design program. Now he functions as the founder and head pilot of Tech Can [Do] Better, prototyping equitable systems starting with one of the most impactful industries.
