Kerry Shields has been the National Volunteer Manager at the Starlight Children’s Foundation since 2011, after originally joining the organisation as a Talent Sourcing Specialist within the People and Culture team. Kerry’s team is responsible for attracting, recruiting, engaging and retaining more than 600 program delivery volunteers, along with over 2,500 event volunteers nationally. In 2015, Starlight’s volunteers contributed in excess of 55,000 hours, equating to over $1.6 million in value to the organisation. Starlight’s volunteers play a vital role in achieving the organisation’s increasing program delivery and fundraising revenue targets year on year. As such, Kerry’s team has implemented a number of innovative initiatives to reach these targets with minimal operational costs, whilst also continuing to strengthen advocacy with the current volunteer community.
