Kathleen Baireuther manages the Mobility as a Service and Interoperable Transit Data programs in the Rocky Mountain Institute’s Mobility Transformation practice. In this capacity, she is designing and implementing a "living lab" for mobility services through a series of demonstration projects in partnership with the City of Austin, major employers, and private service providers. Ultimately, these pilot programs will inform the design of a mobility solutions marketplace. Kathleen also convenes and manages an industry working group tasked with establishing best practices in interoperable transit data, which encompasses transportation data standards that enable software to exchange information about transportation service parameters, real-time status, and passenger transactions.
Kathleen has over ten years of combined experience in strategy, technology commercialization, and economic development, with a strong focus on clean technologies. Previously, Kathleen served as the Assistant Director of the Clean Energy Portfolio at the Austin Technology Incubator, the Executive Director of the CleanTX Foundation, and Director of Economic Development at the Austin Chamber of Commerce. She also serves as an advisor to a number of organizations and events that support clean technology and mobility entrepreneurs, including: the Incubatenergy Network, SXSW Accelerator, SXSW Eco Startup Showcase, and the Energy Thought Summit.
