Kate Viernes (she/her) is a 2.5-generation Filipina American born and raised on Kānaka Maoli land, on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. Her combined interests in Asian, Pacific Islander, and BIPOC communities as well as in the personal, collective healing of all types of trauma led her to the professional path of becoming a clinical social worker. She has worked as a mental health therapist and educator primarily for Asian American and immigrant/BIPOC communities in school, clinic, and private practice settings for the past 8 years. She currently lives with her family on the occupied land of the Tamyen Ohlone people (known today as San Jose, California) where she also has an online psychotherapy practice.
