Kary Perez is a passionate nonprofit leader with a successful background in building and cultivating new audiences for brands. She is currently the Senior Marketing Manager of Chalkbeat, an education news organization committed to covering the effort to improve schools for all children, especially those who have historically lacked access to a quality education. At Chalkbeat, her goal is to create new products for niche audiences that will help keep users informed on education equity, while also building lasting relationships with those new users.
Previously, she has lead strategy and execution of tech-driven social good initiatives for major brands like Google and ESPN, to large-scale non-profits like The JED Foundation and Feeding America. In 2016, she spearheaded an Hour of Code campaign for Microsoft to engage young women and underserved communities, which was used in 50 countries and translated into 20 languages.
