Karim Merchant

Karim's love of play and exploring complexity took him from a career as a jazz pianist and teaching artist in New York to Experience Designer in LA. He combines his talents for collaborative creativity with an educator’s awareness for logic and problem-solving.
He is presently working as a User Experience Designer at Xivic, a full-service digital agency situated near West Hollywood with a variety of vibrant and innovative clients, including Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Walt Disney, and Pressed Juicery.
Karim's previous musical achievements include studying with Jazz Legend Kenny Barron, teaching Atlantic Records artist Charlie Puth and performing regularly at the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, New York. A recent alumni of General Assembly's UX Immersive Program in Santa Monica, CA, his experience crafting digital experiences stretches back more than 15 years to his work as a Flash web designer.
