Julie Beltowsky graduated from the University of Minnesota with degrees in Journalism, and Studies in Cinema & Media Culture. An All-American athlete in high school, she continued her passion for athletics after a career ending injury by working for the UofM Men’s Basketball team while she was a student. She went on to become the Sports Information Director at a Division III College where she created the athletic website, was in charge of statistics, marketing & events, and media relations. Julie made a career pivot by focusing on events in her later roles. She became the Director of Marketing & Events for National American Miss, a program focused on building confidence, interview skills, and public speaking skills in young women. She traveled the country planning, marketing, and hosting events from 10 to 3,000 people, and partnered with Disney for her company's annual national event. After 5 years of traveling, Julie settled down to work with the premier event planning and catering company in Minnesota. Some highlights include working with Fortune 500 companies, and leading Super Bowl LII events. In early 2020, Julie’s husband received a promotion, which abruptly took them along with their 6 month-old son to San Jose, California. Instead of hunting for an Event job as planned, Julie stayed home with their little-one the first year of the pandemic. Itching to get back to work in 2021, she started looking for alternative jobs since the event world still had not fully returned. After some searching, Julie stumbled upon Career Karma, a platform for individuals looking to break into tech. She was captivate by their mission, and knew she was not the only person out there in the same predicament. While navigating through Career Karma, Julie found their job posting for an Event Manager. As fate would have it, instead of using all the resources Career Karma has to offer to break into tech, Julie landed the job to help others just like her. She is now curating virtual events, running Live Audio Rooms, and helping people find their next career path.
