Josh has been sharing his passion for working with data for more than a decade. Prior to moving into industry, Josh taught statistics and programming courses at Iowa State University and the University of Colorado. He enjoys creating engaging learning experiences that mimic the interesting problems currently being worked on in industry.
In industry, Josh has assisted in machine learning and automation efforts as a tax consultant, worked as a biostatistician analyzing clinical trial data to improve cancer treatments, worked at NerdWallet in marketing and growth to build personalized experiences, and currently is a data scientist at Thumbtack where he is a member of the marketplace team.
Josh also enjoys board and card games that have a mix of strategy and luck, running distances that should probably only be covered by bike or car, and reading for learning and for leisure.
