John Dobbertin

John "Dobbs" Dobbertin is the senior vice president of academic success at 2U, Inc., a global leader in education technology that partners with great universities to build, deliver, and support online graduate programs and certificates at scale. As SVP of academic success, Dobbertin is responsible for the overall student experience and retention, including global student success, career success, and faculty success. He has been with 2U since September 2017.

With extensive experience in technology and service leadership, Dobbertin began his higher education career in 1998 at eCollege, a platform learning management system provider. When Pearson acquired eCollege in 2007, Dobbertin was vice president and director of production and infrastructure overseeing all of the technical operations teams and data centers. Dobbertin then pivoted to the business leadership side of education and moved to Tasmania, Australia to become the general manager of EQUELLA, a digital repository. In this role, he was responsible for running all aspects of the EQUELLA business worldwide.

Dobbertin returned to the U.S. and took on the role of SVP of business operations and services for Pearson eCollege. He led all partner-facing aspects of the business, including 24/7 technical support, client services, account management, professional services, EQUELLA North America and Europe consulting and the Thirdway business, Pearson eCollege’s OPM offering.

Most recently, Dobbertin served as the chief operating officer at Helix Education, Inc. where he led the marketing, admissions, and retention divisions for the OPM business.

Dobbertin holds a BA in Elementary Education and French from Niagara University and completed Technical Education tracks at Georgia Institute of Technology.
