After graduating with a BFA in sculpture and furniture from RISD, John moved back to his home of Texas to manage some of the top restaurants in the state. Most recently he was Project Manager and Coordinator of Hospitality and Service for the Launderette, winning restaurant of the year from Food and Wine Magazine, and a James Beard Nomination for Best New Restaurant. Though forever in love with the service industry, John began to look for a way to combine his passions of restaurants and design. Recognizing that a restaurant is one of the ultimate user experiences, he attended the UX Design Immersive at General Assembly. After completing the program, he quickly jumped into the field and began working as a designer at Thinktiv. He now spends his days immersed in research, journey maps, and creating insight-driven solutions for product design problems. In his spare time, John has an active studio practice at the Museum of Human Achievement, experimenting in textiles and sculpture. John <3’s everything internet, dogs, talking, conversations, reading, writing, and ALL food.
