John is a product management leader and educator with a passion for all things product. As a lead instructor for GA’s Product Management classes since 2015, he has taught and mentored hundreds of students, helping them to reach their full potential as product managers. He has also trained teams at Netflix, Slack, and Invitae in product management, agile, and scrum.
John has held product management and product marketing leadership positions with companies serving the enterprise, consumer, and mobile markets, including Oracle, Yahoo, and Siebel Systems. He has also worked at several VC-funded start-ups, most recently as Head of Product & Customer Success at Obo, building products to improve the product planning process. At The 280 Group he provided product management consulting and workshops for enterprise clients including PwC New Ventures, PagerDuty and the Boston Consulting Group. He is a Certified Product Manager and Agile Certified Product Manager and Product Owner with the Association of International Product Marketing and Management (AIPMM) and began his career at the MIT Media Lab.
In recognition of his exemplary service in the classroom, John has been selected as a member of General Assembly's Distinguished Faculty program. He also serves on the General Assembly Product Advisory Board for product management, providing input on course materials and curriculum. In his spare time, John volunteers at Veterans in Residence, a startup incubator and leadership program sponsored by Bunker Labs and WeWork that helps veterans become entrepreneurs.
