Jessica Bussert is an emergency room nurse, a life long technologist, and the founder of Wave Therapeutics. As a child Jessica was one of the first generation of computer geek kids and taught herself to program at age 12. She was a published software author at 15 and was programming custom robotics by the time she was 17. She later led European business consulting for one of the larger tech companies in the world before losing that career to discrimination when she transitioned genders in her early 40's.
Jessica moved back to the US, became a volunteer firefighter and an EMT before making the decision to go back to school and earn her nursing degree. Years later, she was working in a small town ER when an ambulance arrived with a disabled vet who was septic and suffering from the worse bedsores she had ever seen. In that moment Jessica decided to use her tech skills and healthcare experience to found Wave Therapeutics and create a more effective solution to the problem of bedsores that would be affordable to anyone who needed it.
In addition to her work at Wave, Jessica is a professional photographer with her own art gallery, an avid world traveler, and a disaster recovery volunteer. Jessica has been married to her amazing spouse, Sharon, for the past 30 years. Together they raised five wonderful children.
