Jennifer Cerda

Sr. UX Designer, The Home Depot

Houston

I'm a busy mom of two beautiful girls, wife and succulent plant lover and I have dedicated my career to all different kinds of user experience design over the last 20 years. I believe that every experience we utilize in our day to day, whether it's with actual products, services or just completing an errand should be a good experience from end to end. I approach everything I do with a whole picture outlook and I like to consider it "designing for life experiences". Even if your design and testing was a small part of the full journey, every step before and after are just as important.

My career started in graphic design, moved to web design (I learned full html/css coding), then moved to user research, UX and UI designing at various companies. In my current role I conduct user research studies, create journey maps, wireframe designs and prototype full hi-fidelity experiences to hand off to developers in stories with the product manager. I am a big supporter of collaborative designing and bring developers, product managers, stakeholders and more to lean UX design studios and design sprints when possible.

I am UX certified by NN/g, Design Sprint Master Class Certified and I have a BFA in Advertising and Graphic Design from Sam Houston State University.

Over the last two few years I have started focusing on design sprint facilitation and mentoring other designers on UX best practices, communication skills and ways to practice emotional intelligence.
