Head of RAN Strategy, Vodafone Hutchison Australia

    Sydney

Jeff is Head of RAN Strategy for Vodafone Hutchison Australia where his role is to establish a radio spectrum and technology roadmap. With a recent focus upon 5G and beam-forming technology he applies a rigorous optimised cost-benefit approach and employs a business case grounded pull-through framework for spectrum acquisition, technology adoption, and infrastructure investment.

Through strategic due diligence and regulatory lobbying Jeff strongly advocates that Australia is lagging its foreign counterparts in meeting the connectivity needs of both consumers and business. He is intensely interested in the "netonomic" aspect of connectivity and how resources like radio spectrum should be put to their highest value use.

Jeff came to the cellular industry in 2000 being appointed as the National RF Engineering Manager of AAPT, and then in the same role for Hutchison Telecommunications Australia in 2001 where he was part of a pioneering team establishing Australia’s first WCDMA network and 3G business. Prior to his involvement in the cellular industry he held industrial consulting roles in radio product strategy and radio system design after originally emerging from the Defence industry.
