Chicago
Jamila Parham is a diversity and inclusion champion in the Chicago Tech Community whose passion is advocating on behalf of underrepresented populations. From the South Side of Chicago, Jamila is an IT Project Manager at Chicago Transit Authority. She received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Graphics and Motion Design and a Masters in Information Systems Project Management. Her focus is uplifting and providing opportunities for minorities and women by educating, breaking down barriers and providing access to resources; her mission is to show the world that there are positive and progressive role models from the south side of Chicago. One of Jamila’s biggest accomplishments is that she has helped changed the status quo and perception of what someone navigating a career in technology looks like. In 2016, she was featured as one of Verizon's 10 brilliant men and women breaking stereotypes in their professions and was featured by The Root as part of "The 10: These Black Women in Computer Science are Changing the Face of Tech". Jamila is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Glass Slipper Project, BlackGirlsCode and a Soroptimist Volunteer. Be sure to check out www.JamilaParham.com for more info!
