Like most great things in life, it all started with a simple question: "why is local music not mainstream?". To which, Hyder responds with vigour by dedicating his collection of skills from different trades; stepping up to the challenge of wanting to make a difference.

With a background in Multimedia Infocomm Technology, Hyder spent his formative years growing as a drummer in various bands and upon graduation, became a full-time musician for 2 years in pop punk sensation West Grand Boulevard. In 2007, his love for local music inspired the birth of Invasion Singapore and the inception of the School Invasion Tour — a music programme spreading the gospel of local music by invading school assembly periods. During its first run, the tour saw approximately 100 schools and has with media partners such as Mediacorp Radio 98.7FM, youth.sg, and presenting partners like The National Library Board, Coca Cola, and Nokia.

His hunger for more business knowledge and need for more problem-solving experiences eventually spurred him to put the tour operations on a pause as he re-focused the next 3 years on building his career as a marketing intelligence consultant — selling data driven solutions to business problems for corporate clients in APAC, such as UOB, DBS, Abbot, 3M, M&C Saatchi, and Danone.

Fast forward to 2014, Hyder returns to his first love and together with his partner, Inch Chua, he utilizes the collective experience consulting on marketing intelligence solutions for corporations to rebuilds the Invasion team as a social enterprise with a renewed purpose — focusing on market research, audience and industry development activities for made-in-Singapore music. Hyder is currently CEO and Captain of the Invasion Singapore Enterprise.
