Singapore
Grace Chng is a seasoned writer, author and industry observer. She was the key tech writer for Singapore’s morning daily, The Straits Times, from the 1990s to 2010s, allowing her to write about the country’s ICT and startup journey as well as global tech developments. During this period, she co-founded and edited Computer Times - which later was renamed Digital Life – a weekly IT magazine distributed with The Straits Times. She led this publication to become the de facto national IT magazine.
Grace’s skill is her ability to make sense of the developments arising from the adjacent technologies of IT, media and communications. She has travelled widely to cover the major key ICT events around the world. She has moderated panels information technology and mobile technology and its impact on enterprises and society. She has also judged startup pitching contests in Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul and London.
Currently, she is Contributing Editor to a leading Singapore tech portal called techgoondu.com. In 2016/2017, she edited and curated Intelligent Island: The Untold Story of Singapore’s Tech Journey, to celebrate Singapore’s 50th birthday. The book highlights Singapore’s experience in national information technology development. Currently, she has completed another book on Singapore’s 30-year supercomputing journey, called Zero to Thirty. Grace was was involved in a book on Singapore’s IT development called The Wonder Years of NCB 1981-1999. She also wrote edited Innovationation: 25 Years of Infocomm in Singapore.
