Elise and Scott are partners and the co-owners of Sydney business, Grumpy Donuts. The Grumpy Donuts brand was built from the ground up from their combined love of travel and trying new things. Elise came upon the realisation that the music industry wasn't for her, while Scott was working long hours in the Film and TV industry. They were working opposite hours and wanted to shift focus to something that would bring them, and their customers, much joy.
They started working on donuts in their home kitchen mid 2014. Online deliveries started on Fridays only in April 2015, becoming instantly sold out until October 2015. That's when Elise and Scott realised that they were onto something that worked. They upgraded kitchens, expanded days, then found the perfect inner-west store in June 2016. The first Grumpy Donuts store opened in September and business is booming, with 20,000 plus devoted online followers and almost as many in store customers, desperate to get their hands on what has been called 'Sydney's best donuts'.
Elise and Scott are now very busy, wearing many hats, including chef, team coordinator and shop manager, social media manager, creative department. They conduct all online business, attend to fiscal responsibilities and are working steadily on marketing the brand, and maintaining and raising Grumpy Donuts’ slice of social media presence.
