Dustin is a mathematician and educator turned data scientist. Before getting into data science Dustin earned a master's degree in mathematics and then taught high school mathematics, statistics, and physics for 8 years -- 4 of which were spent teaching at an international school in Taiwan. He returned to the US in 2017 to work at Khan Academy and this is where Dustin got the "tech bug". He then attended a General Assembly DSI immersive course to enter the workforce as a professional Data Scientist. He went on to work as a data scientist in the biotechnology and healthcare space. While in this role, Dustin helped developed novel solutions in clinical trial optimization for neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS and Parkinson's disease. He is the co-author of various publications for using machine-learning to improve clinical trials and healthcare applications. In addition to this professional experience, Dustin is working on a master's degree in Data Science at American University where he also works as an adjunct professor in the statistics department. In his spare time, Dustin likes to spend time with his wife and dog, read books, ride his bike, work on math problems, and hike.
