Dr Makayla Lewis

By day, Makayla has a passion for inductive HCI and participatory visual methods and has a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction. She uses HCI, UX and participatory visual methods to draw out an understanding of how people influence the management of their data and how they use social networks to extend and maintain this influence. Makayla is Senior Research Associate: Research into Cyber Security Body of Knowledge at Security Lancaster Research Centre and School of Computing and Communications, Lancaster University.
By Night, Makayla is an accomplished visual thinker, sketcher and visual note taker and her work has been featured in three visual thinking books: Mike Rohde’s “The Sketchnote Workbook: Advanced Techniques for Taking Visual Notes You Can Use Anywhere” and Scott Torrence’s “143 Visuals To Inspire You To Take Action”.
Makayla is a daily sketcher and sketchnoter who also enjoys sharing her process of visual thinking by organising international www.SketchnoteHangout.com, and workshops at UX conferences. She is often seen in meetings, seminars, and conferences sketchnoting and has provided visuals for a multitude of organisations and conferences.
