High-quality patient-centric care in a friendly environment is something Dr. Jill M Bert, OD noticed was lacking in many eye care facilities. Dr. Bert completed her doctorate at the Illinois College of Optometry in 2011 with a passion for people and a love for optometry. Working for others and providing care on their terms instead of her own fired up her entrepreneurial spirit. She founded Lakefront Eye Care, LLC in 2015 with a business model that focuses on developing patient relationships with the doctor and support staff with an emphasis on patient education. This individualized and educational approach allows each patient to fully understand their health conditions and the importance of annual preventative care which in turn improves compliance and patient retention. In its first year, Lakefront Eye Care saw exponential growth month after month. Dr. Bert plans to use this model to start multiple clinics in the future that uphold the same values. Her advice to fellow female entrepreneurs is: "If you can find something you are passionate about and know there is a better way of doing things, trust yourself, commit to your plan and take that leap of faith. If you execute your plan to do what is best for your industry to the very best of your ability, then success will follow.
