Damir Kotoric

Lead Instructor, General Assembly

Melbourne

Damir is a UX designer who over the last 6 years has attained a wide set of skills across the design field and also in web development, photography and video.

Most recently, Damir has been working as a User Experience Designer at Envato - one of the world's leading design marketplaces. There, he helped organise activities like Design Party to spread awareness of design thinking. He thrived at design sprints and prototyping, displaying his full array of design and technical skills, and thereby helping the business test new product ideas in the space of weeks instead of months. Envato’s world-wide community allowed him to meet and talk to customers from all over the world. One day he’d be Skyping with a customer from the U.S.A, on another he’d visit offices of customers in Melbourne and on yet another occasion he'd organise an Envato community meetup in Europe.

Recently, Damir decided to start an aerial photography business bringing with him all the LEAN UX principles he mastered along the way. Midway into taking the startup leap, the opportunity to teach and inspire others at General Assembly presented itself. In a display of LEAN thinking that would have the Google Ventures Design team nodding in approval, he quickly pivoted and jumped on the new opportunity to teach at GA, postponing his planned venture for late 2016.

By passing on his knowledge and stories of success (and failure!) with a group of UX-superstars-to-be, he aims to equip them with everything they need to make a successful start in their exciting new field.
